Community Fundraising

For the past two years, Somatica Productions has proudly donated $5 from every ticket to the Easter Somatica to a charity or community project in need.

2009 saw Wildlife Victoria receive $2235 after they launched the Wildlife Victoria Bushfire Appeal in response to the Black Saturday bushfires. Six wildlife centres were burned down in the fires, and these funds helped save many burned and severely injured animals. Click here to read a letter from Wildlife Victoria thanking Somatica and its punters, detailing some of the work they've done with our donation, or here to view the receipt of funds and official thank you, or click here to check out the Wildlife Victoria website to read up on their current projects.

The 2010 Easter Somatica directed ticket sales to animals under long term threats, for reasons such as deforestation, other destruction of natural habitats, and poaching. Somatica Productions and its ticket purchasers are now the proud foster parents of a small but growing family of animals much in need of support.

Say hello to our Elephants Malai Tong and baby Pha Mai who are both being well looked after at the Elephant Nature Park in Northern Thailand. The Elephant Nature Park not only provides santuary to distressed elephants, but also runs programs preserving community culture through employing and purchasing locally, and also directs a rainforest reforestation program. See more at www.elephantnaturepark.org

And our 5 awesome Orangutans!!! Pingky, Kesi, Dodo & the inseperable Momo & Mimi from Orangutan Outreach. Orangutan Outreach is an organisation based in Indonesia, where the timber and palm oil industries have decimated the orangutangs rainforest homes. The few orangutans who escape the mass burning and tree felling often fall victim to poachers, and Orangutang Outreach has saved some creatures with truly harrowing stories. Check out http://redapes.org to see the amazing and trying work that these guys are doing. Please click on the adoption certificate for Dodo below to meet all of our orangutans and have a read of the stories of each of our newly adopted apes and you'll see exactly why these guys need our help.

All of these guys have been fostered for one year each in order to support them in their rehabilitation and save them from an uncertain future, thanks again to all the Somatica supporters that helped to make this happen.

Somatica Productions will continue its support to others in need in 2011, by once again taking a percentage from each and every ticket sale and donating that money directly to a charity or community project in need. Watch this space for more details!!!
